Choosing a solar system
There are several different systems for heating your domestic hot water by solar power and there are a number of factors that must be taken into account when choosing your solar thermal system.For optimum performance a South facing roof area is best or an area near to your home that has a South facing area. Gravity fed solar heating system
The orientation of your property will factor highly. Gravity fed systems work adequately in warmer climates but will need assistance via a back up water heater during harsh winter weather. These systems work well as a basic solution but will need assistance via electric heaters which will consume a lot of energy. For all year use we recommend air heat pumps which work throughout the year.
Split system solar water heating
Split systems give you a lot of flexibility as the tank and the solar collectors are not positioned together. Again our systems are backed up with an electric water heater for those times when the cold weather is extreme. These systems are the best solar solution but for all year use we recommend air heat pumps.
